A few years ago over 103 Kenyan Government websites were hacked and a few weeks later several commercial banks websites were also hacked. This got me thinking alot; over 90% of the websites have never been audited for quality and security vulnerabilities after their launch.

This begs the question, how healthy is your company or personal website?. You may not see the underlying structure of your website by simply looking at it and especially if you are not a web designer or developer.

Most company websites have never been upgraded or refreshed especially if they are static or even running on open source CMS systems like Joomla. By the way, all the 103 websites mentioned above were running on Joomla 1.5.

In Kenya alone, almost every IT guy is a website designer (a great way of making that extra shilling). These are the guys who charge Ksh 5,000 for a website, mush up something on Joomla and vuala! you have a website. They simply overlook all the critical aspects of designing a quality and professional website.

It is important to note that, your website is your online storefront or your online salesman. It has to be professional and perform as intended. When you have a sub-standard website, you adversely affect your business and you end up spending more money on solving petty issues related to the functionality and quality of the website.

If you already have a website and you are sure you don’t know how it works internally, I will advice you to get it audited. A detailed analysis will reveal underlying quality issues, potential problems, slow pages, large pages, deep pages and give guidelines on what needs to be done to solve identified quality issues.
